Peterborough Youth Choirs

Peterborough Youth Choir was founded in 2011 by Peterborough Male Voice Choir and Peterborough Voices to give children and young people an opportunity to perform with them in large scale, prestigious concerts with well-known singing stars and to be able to learn singing skills free of charge.

The choir has grown very quickly and now comprises of 110 young people. They rehearse in junior, intermediate and senior groups, enabling tuition, coaching and repertoire to be offered appropriate to each individual's developmental stage. The junior and intermediate groups perform together as Peterborough Youth Training Choir and the senior group as Peterborough Youth Choir.


Peterborough Youth Choirs are managed and funded by Peterborough Male Voice Choir and Peterborough Voices. There are no membership fees.

The choirs are based at The Broadway Theatre, Peterborough PE1 1RT. Rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons throughout the year:

        Juniors from 4.00pm - 5.00pm

        Intermediates from 4.30pm - 5.30pm

        Seniors from 5.00pm - 6.30pm.

The choirs are directed by William Prideaux. The group are supervised by a dedicated team of DBS checked adult chaperones.


As well as offering internal progression opportunities, rehearsing and performing with Peterborough Youth Choir also prepares singers for regional and national opportunities. Former members have gone on to specialist music schools and gained places with acclaimed ensembles including Durham Cathedral Choir, the choir of King's College, Cambridge, and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

Engagements in 2013 have included performing with the internationally renown Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Magic of the Musicals with Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Male Voice Choir (broadcast by BBC Cambridgeshire), their first residential training weekend at Buckden, and performing in the Music for Youth Regional Festival in Northampton, and Peterborough and Oundle Music Festivals. As well as Christmas Magic with Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Male Voice Choir and appearing in the professional productions Evita and Joseph at the Broadway Theatre, Peterborough for Bill Kenwright Ltd.
