We have done our best to give a full picture of Peterborough Male Voice Choir and its activities and since you’ve come this far we must have done a reasonable job. However, here are a few more questions that prospective members sometimes ask:
1. What does it cost to become a member of Peterborough Male Voice Choir?
- The financial commitment is very small. There is no joining fee. An annual subscription of £50 is payable in September, for all members.
2. Will I have to buy a uniform?
- PMVC has two uniforms. The first consists of a grey jacket and tie, and red or blue shirts; the second of a ‘burgundy’ waistcoat and tie, and white shirt. Both are worn with black trousers and belt, black shoes and socks, Members are expected to provide trousers, shoes and socks, but the other items are supplied free of charge by the choir.
3. Will I have to pass an audition?
- No. Currently, PMVC does not hold auditions, although prospective members are expected to be able to sing in tune and to be able to pitch and hold notes.
4. I can’t read music. Does that matter?
- Obviously it helps if you can read music, but it is not essential. Many of the current members cannot read music either, but are helped along by those who can. We are a friendly bunch and our MD is very patient!
