Ivan Linford became accompanist to the Peterborough Male Voice Choir in March 2010. He was born in Peterborough and whilst a pupil at the King’s School, he began to learn the organ with Christopher Gower, then Director of Music at the Cathedral, where he had previously been a chorister.

From January 2010, he embarked on a career as a freelance organist, having previously held posts at Oakham School (Organist), Leicester Cathedral (Assistant Director of Music) and Oakham Parish Church (Director of Music). He is an organist at Kettering Crematorium and visits different churches to play for Sunday services. He holds the degrees of Batchelor of Music and Master of Arts from the University of Huddersfield and is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. As a postgraduate student, he was Organ Scholar at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. He has given organ recitals and accompanied choirs at various English cathedrals and churches, including St Paul’s Cathedral, London. He has performed on BBC television and radio and has visited a variety of countries as an accompanist, including Ireland, France, Belgium, Italy, Hungary and the USA.

He has various interests, including cooking, pubs, restaurants and the countryside. He also enjoys certain TV quiz shows and appeared as a contestant on  The Weakest Link in 2008.
